TASTING NOTE

Kama-iri early green tea, prepared by Mr. Kôrogi, one of the best tea masters in Japan, awarded 16 times by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture.

This Kama-iri cha tea from Mr. Kôrogi, the most awarded tea master in Japan, is the fruit of four years of work and research to achieve the desired result. Upon tasting, a flowery scent blossoms quickly in the mouth and, at the same time, one feels a refreshing sensation, soft and without any bitterness. The intensity of the fragrance is so strong that it evokes the fullness and roundness of Taiwanese oolong tea.

About the tea garden
Gokase is the largest producing region of Kami-iri tea, bordering Miyazaki and Kumamoto prefectures. It is one of the largest tea producing regions in Japan. Its fertile soil and climate help to obtain high quality tea. The plantations are located in the heights where there are difficult climatic conditions with strong temperature differences and persistent fog.

The "Japanese tea fragrance" project was launched by Mr. Kôrogi and LUPICIA in 2017. Kama-iri cha, originally, was made entirely by hand. Its scent is then sweet and refreshing, its freshly picked leaves wither naturally and retain all their original taste qualities. At a time when automation in tea making takes an important part and where we try to always keep the same flavors, we have forgotten the scent of Kama-iri tea.

This is the starting point of a research project on Kama-iri cha: to make a tea mixing tradition and modernity that expresses these original flavors. Based on past experiences during visits to production sites in many countries around the world, it turned out that the step of "wilting" the tea leaves was probably the most important because it is here that we bring out all the aroma of tea leaves.

Taking into account all the experiences and errors observed after more than 4 years of unsuccessful trials, we have finally succeeded in obtaining a very fragrant tea close to the origins of Kama-iri cha with the same qualities as a fully made tea. by hand. Kama-iri cha "Special Gokase" is a new type of Kama-iri cha born from a mixture of traditional and modern techniques. It is very rare to have such a pronounced and flowery scent for green tea.
