KAGAMI-BIRAKI SET
KAGAMI-BIRAKI SET
classé dans : Pitchers and sake cups
This set allows you to relive, at your own table, the festive tradition of kagami-biraki, the ritual of opening the lid of a sake barrel.
Made by Kishimoto Kichiji Shōten, a company that has perpetuated the art of straw barrel making (komodaru) since the Edo period, this set evokes the ancient barrels wrapped in rice straw intended to protect sake during long journeys. The ritual of kagami-biraki, believed to have originated with samurai breaking sake barrels before leaving for battle to strengthen unity, consists of "opening the mirror," the barrel's round lid, and sharing the sake with guests.
This miniature model, with a capacity of 720ml, includes a small inner bucket that can hold sake, juice, or even gifts. It's perfect for surprising your guests, giving as a gift, or personalizing your table for a festive event. The lid, secured by a magnet, can be opened multiple times with a small wooden mallet. It pops energetically when struck in the center, providing a small, spectacular surprise despite its small size.
"Fuku – Hanayagi" (福・華やぎ) Design
A sumptuous motif featuring the character "福" (luck, happiness) on three fans decorated with classic gold motifs, creating a festive and refined atmosphere.
Dimensions: 180mm (diameter); 175mm (height) Capacity: 720ml Material: Plastic, wood Weight: 430g Origin: Japan
