The history of Mino washi paper dates back nearly 1,300 years, to around 737 (Nara period), when it was used for official documents kept in the Imperial Shōsō-in.
The Mino region (present-day Gifu Prefecture) offered two ideal conditions for washi production:
– raw materials such as kōzo (paper mulberry), mitsumata, and gampi
– abundant cold, pure spring water
Its proximity to the imperial capital also contributed to its development as a renowned center of papermaking.
This set allows you to enjoy both chiyogami, a traditional decorative paper with refined Japanese patterns, and the more understated and natural washi. Ideal for those who wish to savor the richness of both styles, combined in a single set.
Dimensions: 150mm (width); 150mm (length) Content: 40 sheets Origin: Japan
