TASTING NOTE

Sakurambo Cherry Green Tea: The elegance of Japanese cherry

This exclusive blend combines the finesse of a carefully selected Japanese green tea with the sweet and tangy flavor of the Sakurambo cherry. A luminous infusion that evokes the gentle warmth of the first rays of sunshine.

Did you know?

In Japan, the term Sakurambo specifically refers to the fruit of the cherry, unlike Sakura, which refers to the cherry blossom. This tea therefore emphasizes the juicy, sweet flavor of the fruit rather than the almond notes of the flower.

AROMATIC PROFILE
Notes of cherry and a delicate floral fragrance

This cherry green tea is distinguished by its subtle balance, avoiding any heaviness of sweetness to highlight the natural freshness of the fruit.

  • The aroma: An enchanting fragrance of freshly picked cherries reminiscent of orchards at the summer solstice.
  • Visually: The green tea leaves are studded with vibrant pink peppercorns and rosemary leaves, offering a beautiful visual contrast and a touch of sophistication.
  • On the palate: A silky initial taste where the fruity flavor of cherry dominates, supported by a slightly briny green tea base. The finish is clean, fruity, and very refreshing.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS THINK

Inspired by the famous little Japanese Sakurambo cherry, this green tea is one of the most popular for its fruity sweetness and springtime freshness. Here are the key strengths that come up most often in our customer testimonials (Certishopping reviews, Google reviews and tasting feedback):

  • A "real" and juicy fruit flavor: Unlike classic cherry teas, which are often marked by almond notes, customers here emphasize the "fresh fruit" aspect. "You can really taste the cherry flesh; it's sweet and tangy at the same time," explains one user.
  • A striking freshness on the nose: The aroma upon opening the bag is consistently described as "captivating" and "very natural." The cherry notes are subtly enhanced by touches of pink peppercorn and rosemary, creating a highly appreciated aromatic complexity.
  • The lightness of Japanese green tea: The green tea base (often Kagoshima Bancha) is praised for its smoothness. "No bitterness, even if you slightly over-steep it," notes one review, making this tea particularly accessible to beginners.
  • The favorite for gourmet iced tea: As with many of our fruity creations, enjoying it as a cold brew is a unanimous success. Customers describe it as "the ideal summer drink," both refreshing and naturally flavored without the need for sugar.
  • An enchanting visual: Several customers mention the visual appeal: the green tea leaves scattered with pink flower petals (and sometimes small pink peppercorns) make this blend a much-appreciated gift thanks to its "Japanese spring" aesthetic.

In short: A tea praised for its elegance and balance. It's the perfect choice for those looking for a light, cheerful and intensely fruity drink, to be enjoyed both hot and iced.

THE BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA

Green Cherry Tea is a daily wellness ally, combining delicious taste with protective properties:

  • Powerful Antioxidant Action: Rich in catechins (EGCG), this green tea helps fight cellular aging and supports the immune system.
  • Stable Energy (Theine): The caffeine in green tea is released gradually into the body, providing increased alertness without the stimulating effect of coffee.
  • Zero Bitterness, Zero Sugar: Thanks to the natural sweetness of the cherry flavor, this tea is extremely easy to drink and requires no added sugar, making it a healthy and light beverage.

WHY CHOOSE THIS TEA?

  • Japanese expertise: A tea carefully blended in our factory in Japan, guaranteeing optimal freshness.
  • Preservation: Our leaves are protected from oxidation to preserve every aromatic nuance.
  • Iconic packaging: Available loose leaf or in our famous illustrated metal tins, perfect for gifting or for keeping the leaves fresh.
  • Perfect balance: Unlike other flavored teas, Sakurambo Cherry retains a remarkable authenticity of taste, perfectly blending the flavors of green tea and Japanese cherry.
  • Excellent as iced tea: When cold-brewed, it reveals an even more refreshing side. It's the ideal drink to replace sodas with a healthy and flavorful alternative.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR GREEN TEA?
As hot tea or iced tea

For the perfect pairing of green tea and cherry, it's essential to respect the delicate nature of green tea leaves:

  • Temperature: Use water at 75°C - 80°C. Water that is too hot will bring out the bitterness of the tea and mask the delicate flavor of the cherry.
  • Brewing Time: A brewing time of 1'30 to 2 minutes is ideal. Be precise to maintain the balance between the tea base and the fruity aroma.
  • Dosage: Use approximately 2g to 2.5g of tea (one heaped teaspoon) per 150ml of water.
  • Re-infusions: Like all high-quality green teas, Akane can be infused up to 2 times. For subsequent infusions, you can slightly increase the temperature and reduce the brewing time to 30 seconds.
  • The Secret to Iced Tea: Sakurambo is exceptional iced. When cold-brewed (Mizudashi), the cherry's acidity softens, and the aroma becomes incredibly captivating. It's the perfect drink for summer afternoons.

  • Sakurambo (Sato Nishiki) Japanese Cherry

    The "Ruby of Yamagata"

The Sakurambo (Japanese for red-rimmed cherry) is no ordinary cherry. The most famous variety, Sato Nishiki, is nicknamed the "ruby of the orchards." Cultivated with almost ritualistic care in Yamagata Prefecture, it represents the pinnacle of Japanese fruit growing. Unlike Western varieties, which are fleshier and darker, the Sakurambo is distinguished by its small size, its bright red skin, and its exceptionally tender flesh.

    A unique aromatic profile

What makes the Sakurambo irreplaceable in Lupicia's Sakurambo Cherry blend is its perfect balance of flavors:

    • Delicate Sweetness: Its taste is reminiscent of flower nectar, with a more subtle sweetness than that of a black cherry.
    • Lively acidity: It has a refreshing touch of acidity that awakens the vegetal notes of Japanese green tea, creating a very thirst-quenching sweet and sour harmony.
    • Spring fragrance: Its scent is remarkably pure. It immediately evokes the sakura (cherry blossom) season.

  • Why is it the perfect partner for green tea?

In Sakurambo Cherry tea, the aroma of the Sakurambo cherry doesn't just perfume the tea; it interacts with the leaf. The vibrancy of this earthy citrus fruit highlights the marine freshness of the green tea (Sencha) without ever overpowering it. Combined with the pink peppercorns and rosemary in the blend, the Sakurambo reveals unexpected facets: its fruity character becomes more pronounced, and its finish more lingering.

Did you know? In Japan, premium Sakurambo cherries are often given as luxury gifts (Ochugen) at the beginning of summer, symbolizing gratitude and refinement.

    Japanese spring in your cup

The combination of the prestigious Sakurambo cherry and our Japanese green tea creates a harmony of rare elegance. Lupicia's Sakurambo Cherry Tea is all about subtlety: the natural vibrancy of green tea (Sencha) perfectly complements the tangy crunch of the Yamagata cherry. Enhanced with pink peppercorns and a touch of rosemary for a fresh, herbaceous finish, this blend is a true ode to the renewal of spring.

Whether you enjoy it hot for a moment of quiet contemplation or iced for an intensely fruity break, let yourself be transported by the sweetness of Japan's red gold.
